Hi JB,
Good to see you on the boat.
Thanks for the detail about when you expect to be in the reserve.
I had good feedback and no problems with you operating from the reserve last summer. The crepes add to the Waiheke experience and you have established your credibility as a responsible Waihekean (!). On that basis I am happy to help.
However, this is a busy reserve, which is popular with kids. Safety is very important. Other users of the reserve should not be affected by you driving your car.
I would be happy to give you a key for the reserve on following basis:
  • You wait for any pedestrians to cross the reserve before driving within it.
  • You only drive on the reserve to park or remove the trailer.
  • You keep speed to 5kmh or less and minimise any need for reversing within the reserve.
  • Once you have parked the trailer you immediately move your car to the car park and lock the chain behind you.
  • You don't let other vehicles into the reserve at any time.
  • You lock the chain securely after you leave each night.
  • You return the key at the end of the summer.
If there are any complaints about your use of the reserve then I will give you a call to talk through the issues.
You can come to the council office at Belgium Street to pick up the key, which will be behind the front desk in an envelope marked JB - Matapana Reserve key.
